Brief: The Psychonomic Society describes itself as "the preeminent society for the experimental study of cognition." Members of the Society are cognitive psychologists and conduct research concerning memory, learning, problem solving, decision making, language, attention, and perception.

The Society's name is a variation of the word, psychonomics, defined as "the science of the laws relating the mind to the organism's internal and external environment : psychology." This definition was the inspiration for the logo's image.

Brief: The Human Factors and Ergonomics Society's organizational logo is an abstraction of Leonardo da Vinci's drawing, The Vitruvian Man, also referred to as the "Canon of Proportions." The Vitruvian Man is used as a metaphor for human factors/​ergonomics which advocates for the design of objects and systems in accord with the human body and mind.

This conference logo references the Society's logo by use of the figure and square shape behind it. The primacy of the human in implied. The polygon shapes and use of color signify math and science. The use of color also suggests the variety of disciplines that converge within the Society.

Brief: As mentioned previously, the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society's organizational logo is an abstraction of Leonardo da Vinci's drawing, The Vitruvian Man. The Vitruvian Man is used as a metaphor for human factors/​ergonomics which advocates for the design of objects and systems in accord with the human body and mind.

This conference logo references the Society's logo by use of the figure and circular shape. The figure and circle are combined with the traditional medical cross symbol, to suggest human factors integrated into health care.
